Lasers target hair at the root. The root is destroyed so hair never grows back. Hair is gone forever. The laser emits a wavelength of light that should be primarily absorbed by the hair and primarily reflected by skin, causing the hair follicle to heat up faster than the surrounding skin. This causes inflammation, which will kill the follicle that produces the hair. You can expect a 10% to 25% reduction in hair after the first treatment. To remove the hair, most patients need 2 to 6 laser treatments. After finishing the treatments, most patients do not see any hair on the treated skin for several months or even years.
